make art of something you have never seen – it may be the only way it can ever exist
do it bad and do it scared, but above all DO it
is art seperable from communication? can a creative work truly say nothing at all?
there is no such thing as overinterpretation, the analysis just moves from the text to its reader
the best noise i have ever heard: 🌀
though difficult to produce, animation is one of the easiest mediums for people to read. which is why i have to make it. movement & personality, color & dynamics, if executed well it is as readable and engaging as real life. communication and accessibility are the core of art, sharing visual ideas through methods that may be impossible to specify as such with words. everyone Gets art even if they dont have the academic language for what they Get about it. the emotional experience and personal connections are half of the message in the first place.
creativity is a service; a translation; a refraction. lenses of artist & viewer & concept itself fractured and layered back together into a single image, like light through a prism. art is perspective and conversation in one.
genre fiction – scifi, horror, fantasy – use this communication to the fullest extent, making impossible ideas tangible. visual art has the power to create otherwise impossible objects, spaces, people. isnt it waste not to use it? you have access to unreal spaces that no other creature in the world can create. these places will die with you unless you make them real, encode them in art and communicate about what could be.
commission work is important for these same reasons, as an artist you are able to act as both translator & architect for something that could not exist without you. if you have the communication skill to speak and create for others, you are obligated to use it.
